About the speaker
DENG Fei initiated the use of social media towards social good in Mainland China. He co-founded "Free Lunch Fund" to provide free lunch for school children in the poor areas through online crowd-sourcing. Within a month, the fund raised more than RMB1,000,000 with the support of more than 100,000 netizens. Since 2010, his rapid-fire reporting has raised many cases to national attention and demonstrated the power of microblogging in China.

互聯網為中國帶來許多前所未有的可能性:從事媒體工作的鄧飛曾透過微博,直播千里之外的地方官員濫權,引發民意狂瀾,導致肇事官員落馬。他亦動員民眾發起"微博打拐",協­­助父母尋找被拐賣的兒童,令國家改變反拐制度,並發起"中國貧困山區小學免費午餐",呼籲民眾每天捐款3元,幫助只能喝水充飢的學童能吃飽午飯,多個階層數百萬網民踴躍­參­與,令飢餓問題再次引起國家重視,並於明年著手解決兩千多萬名鄉村兒童饑餓問題,持續改變中國。
