Others say Slim should help out Mexicans by providing better jobs.

"He's been able to manage his business; many others in Mexico haven't been able to. He's a businessman and he's an example."
Slim has a simple philosophy about making money. He acquires struggling firms and turns them into profitable investments.
His business empire includes some of Mexico's best-known department stores, its biggest telecoms operator, hotels, restaurants, oil drilling, building firms and a major bank. And outside Mexico, Slim has holdings in such prestigious groups as retailer Saks and New York Times Co.
Slims big break occurred in 1990 when he and his partners bought ailing telephone company Telmex for $1.7 billion. Turning it into a cash-making jewel, he spun off America Movil and expanded it through acquisitions to become one of the world's biggest wireless operators
