Philip Lowe on the European Energy Roadmap 2050
The eagerly anticipated Energy Roadmap 2050 will be published by the European Commission before the end of 2011. It will examine scenarios for the revolution in energy systems which will be required to deliver an 80-90% reduction in emissions and a 90% decarbonisation of the EU power sector by 2050, while meeting the objectives of energy security, sustainability and competitiveness.

Philip Lowe was appointed as Director-General of the European Commission's Energy DG in February 2010. He has previously served as Director-General for Development and Competition at the European Commission.
